Devotionals should not depend on a formula, but can and should cause each reader to consider a problem, meditate upon it, and raise prayer to God. We are each doorways for God’s presence into the world, as Jesus promised the eleven in John 14-16.
Read these quotations and observations slowly and balance them with the Bible quotations, all drawn from the English Standard Version of the Bible. Conclude with a prayer – either the one printed or one of your own (or both). Resist the compulsion to read straight through, but spend time on each one. Be courageous and write one of your own.
